TXRD - Why do you skate?

What's up guys. Wow it has really been a long time since I've posted on here. How are you all? How has life been treating you?

What have I been up to - well, after the school year was over at Tisch Asia in May, I've been travelling through Nepal, Bali, and working on a shoot in Africa. I came back to the states a few weeks ago, and most recently been hanging in Burlington, VT, a rad little town, where I'm working at SOCAPA, and LOVING it. I've also had some downtime to get some of my work in order. I decided to go back in chronological order to one of the first films I shot. So here it is, the world premiere of "Why Do You Skate?" - a short documentary on Austin's own TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls. 

I shot this project in 2004 during production of A&E's reality series "Rollergirls." Unfortunately it never made it on the air, but it turned out to be a pretty cool little film: my homage to the women and the essence of the modern roller derby revival. Sisterhood, empowerment, derby love... and of course, a good old fashioned Texas ass whoopin'. Starring Austin's own TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls, my nemesisters, my gang, my peeps. ENJOY!
